Outdoor food preparation tips
Outdoor food preparation especially while camping differs from normal home cooking. We at Cadac want you to have a fun time in preparing outdoor food.
As such we provide useful tips for outdoor food storage and preparation:
- Make use of heavy duty foil bags to mix meat and veggies together. Prepare the dish over a charcoal fire and don’t overcook.
- Grill chicken without adding sauce at first. Only when it is cooked halfway, add the basting. This will prevent the sauce from burning onto the meat and will ensure a tastier meal.
- If you have limited space when packing you can leave the mixing bowls at home and rather take the pots that can double as mixing bowls.
- Rather than using bucket or tub margarine use the squeeze bottle types. The bottles take up less space and are easier to use when on safari than the tub types.
- Rather than preparing food over an open fire, make use of charcoal for less smoke and burn prevention.
Apart from the above tips you will also find our equipment guidelines useful:
- Instead of taking various cooking equipment, try our Carri Chef or the Safari Chef as these barbeques come with interchangeable cooking surfaces. You will for instance, be able to grill, fry, stir-fry, and bake with one of the barbeque sets.
- Be sure to pack an appropriate size gas cylinder to ensure that you have enough heating fuel for the whole camping trip.
- Invest in a drip pan to place cooked meat in or to use when marinating meat.
- Purchase the dual arm control to ensure that you can use two appliances at the same time from one gas cylinder.View our extensive catalogue of outdoor food preparation equipment and don’t forget to buy the recipe book for delicious camp cuisine ideas.
